Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage - Restoration Meets Relaxation in San Diego

Call to Book

There is no substitute for an experienced therapist when it comes to the craft of deep tissue massage. When it comes to targeting the deeper layers of muscles, connective tissue, and fascia, a deep tissue massage at PRFCT focuses on complete rejuvenation using slow, firm pressure. Techniques such as deep finger strokes, Deep Tissue Massage aims to release chronic tension, break up scar tissue, and improve blood flow to problem areas.

This type of massage is particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from chronic pain, stiffness, or recovery from injuries like muscle strains. Unlike relaxation-focused massages, this is a more intense and highly effective treatment for addressing muscle knots and areas of tension, leaving clients feeling relief from pain and improved overall mobility.

What to Expect:

You may feel pressure, tightness, or temporary soreness as the deeper layers of muscle and fascia are worked on. Post-Massage,  it’s common to experience mild soreness for 24–48 hours, similar to the feeling after a good workout.

Deep tissue massage may cause temporary discomfort or mild pain during the session, especially in areas with significant tension, adhesions “knots”, or chronic tightness. However, the level of pressure should always be within your tolerance and adjusted to your comfort.

Benefits:

  • Pain Relief: Effective for conditions like lower back pain, neck stiffness, or sciatica.
  • Improved Mobility: Breaks up adhesions and scar tissue, which may be restricting movement.
  • Stress Reduction: While more intense than a relaxation massage, it can still calm the nervous system.
  • Increased Circulation: Promotes blood flow to tissues, which speeds healing and reduces inflammation.
  • Postural Improvement: Helps correct imbalances caused by poor posture or repetitive strain.
  • Improves chronic pain in conditions like fibromyalgia, Sports-related injuries or recovery, tension headaches, repetitive strain injuries (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome), postural issues and muscle imbalances
