Before Your Appointment

  • Ensure a clear Pap smear within the last year and no recent infections. Your OB/GYN may provide a clearance letter if requested.
  • Observe vaginal rest for 3 days prior; no sexual activity, tampons, or insertion of products.
  • Shower or bathe on the morning of your appointment; the treatment area must be completely clean, free of creams or lotions.
  • Clip or trim long pubic hair. For external treatments, shave the vulvar area for comfort.
  • Wear loose-fitting pants and cotton underwear to your appointment.
  • Bring a clean vaginal probe cover if this is your second or third treatment in a series.

After Your Treatment

  • Internal treatments: Resume normal activity as tolerated, but continue vaginal rest for 3 days.
  • External treatments: Avoid sexual activity for 7 days and keep the area clean and protected.
  • Do not soak in tubs, pools, or other bodies of water for 1 week.
  • Gently cleanse the area twice daily with water and mild cleanser. For itching, pat with a white vinegar and water solution; avoid scratching.
  • Keep the area moisturized with Aquaphor; avoid petroleum-based products.
  • Use panty liners to maintain cleanliness and wear loose cotton underwear. Avoid tight clothing or pantyhose until fully healed.
  • Avoid heavy lifting or intense exercise for 3–4 days, and delay hot showers for approximately 1 day after treatment.

Some clients may experience mild spotting, pink or brown discharge, watery discharge, irritation, or slight discomfort. These effects are generally short-lived. In rare cases of concern, contact the office promptly, or seek emergency care if necessary.
